New Voices uses technology in several different ways:
-
The computer-based graphic arts program studio features a full class set of iMac computers. Students use a variety of applications such as Appleworks, MSWord, Power Point, HyperStudio, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.
-
Students also use computerized keyboards and recording equipment in the music class.
-
The school has several mobile rolling computer labs, I-Pad carts, and smart boards for teacher and student use
-
New Voices benefit from ALEKS (Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces) is a web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and learning system. ALEKS uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn't know in a course. It then instructs the student on the topics she is most ready to learn. As a student works through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses the student to ensure that topics learned are also retained. Math teachers follow student progress to determine whether they require instructional support.
