Our Common Core-aligned humanities offerings - English Language Arts (ELA) and social studies - are taught in an interdisciplinary approach. Students meet for three periods each day. Reading, writing, and the study of history, geography, and current events are blended together, creating a unified program.
We practice understanding-based education. Facts alone are isolated pieces of knowledge, but when coupled with literature, they acquire greater meaning.
Our seven-unit curriculum provides students opportunities to build their reading and writing skills in myriad ways. Click HERE to view each unit across grades.
Each classroom has an enriched classroom library. New Voices has an intervention specialist, as well as, a part-time literacy consultant who conducts professional development for our humanities teachers.
